Congrats to member Kylie Moir, off to Brickvention 2015!

Kylie will be proudly representing the Queensland Lego User Group as a exhibitor at next years Brickvention 2015 in Melbourne, Victoria. She will be displaying her much loved Sherwood Forest, Robin Hood themed display. Congratulations Kylie for being chosen to display at this massive event. I’m sure it will be an absolute blast and you will meet a lot of wonderful AFOL’s.

Lego Fan Expo, Sleeman Sports Arena Chandler 2014

We have a few of our talented builders that visit and participate in other local and interstate shows. So it was no surprise to have them lured into displaying at the expo at Chandler this year. Qlug member Kylie won best in show for her awesome displays. Congrats!

So in Admin capacity, I visited the Expo during the Autism session on Sunday with a few friends, to support our members and to meet other AFOL’s. After experiencing the session and afterwards when the full lighting and crowds arrived, I can honestly say it makes a huge difference to the families attending. Having spent days under lights at shows, I’m sure it was a nice change of pace for the exhibitors as well!

I also spotted familiar displays from Allen and  Jeremy. Apologies to anyone else that I didn’t spot as there were no labels with names on most displays which made it difficult. There were some other exhibitors that crossover from the group hosting this expo to socialise with our group at QLUG and it was great to get to chat to many of them too.

I also managed to catch up with members Brad and Marcus which was lovely as they’ve not been at recent shows or meets. I’m sure they may have had displays also, but I couldn’t spot which belonged to them. It was also a pleasure to meet Brent Waller who designed the original Lego Ideas concept for the Ghostbusters set.

All in all it was a great show, if not a long three days for our members who attended. Great job!
